Wahoo is pleased to announce that it has renewed its sponsorship of triathlete Sarah True. The New Hampshire native, who represented the United States in Triathlon at the Rio and London Olympic Games, turned her focus to long-course, non-draft events in 2018. She recently qualified to race IRONMAN World Championship in Kona, Hawaii, after a second-place finish at the IRONMAN European Championship, in Frankfurt, Germany.
“it’s hard though, man. It’s different hard. I don’t think I’ll be walking up stairs tomorrow. It’s kind of a dull ache that you push through for nine hours, apparently. Now I know.”
Sarah True to Triathlon World, after finishing Ironman EU Championships
True has represented the United States in short-course events since 2005 and achieved a fourth-place finish at the London Olympics in 2012. She also captured numerous top-placings in ITU events before shifting her focus to long-course, non-draft races in 2017. The Frankfurt European Championships, where she finished second, was her IRONMAN debut.
“We’re glad to be working with Sarah as she shifts her focus from shorter, draft-legal events, to full-distance IRONMAN events,” said Wahoo CEO and Founder Chip Hawkins. “While Sarah has shown that she’s an absolute pro at shorter events, IRONMAN requires a different kind of fitness and training and we’re proud to supply Sarah with the full range of Wahoo equipment to help her prepare for, and compete in, the world’s toughest races.”
“I’m grateful to have the support of a brand like Wahoo, who always work to make sure that athletes are fully prepared for the world’s toughest races. With the focus and intensity required to train for IRONMAN events, it’s very important that I get the most out of each workout.”
During the 2019 season and the remainder of 2018, True will be using the KICKR Smart Trainer connected smart trainer for indoor training, as well as the ELEMNT BOLT GPS bike computer and TICKR heart rate monitor to track and measure training.
“I’ll be relying on KICKR to help me make sure I’m able to ride at the front of the field, while BOLT and TICKR will help me track and monitor my performance during training and races,” said True.
