We caught up Sarah True and Tim Don while we were at the Zwift Academy training camp held in California at the Specialized headquarters. The Academy was created with the intention to identify and support the next generation of athletes. The identification comes from a rigorous testing protocol in which athletes take part in group rides and key workouts on Zwift over the course of several months. Once the final group of athletes are selected for the Academy they receive pro level support in the form of a Specialized race bike, Roka performance products, Science in Sport nutrition and a full Wahoo KICKR Indoor ecosystem including the KICKR Smart Trainer and the KICKR CLIMB.

This support makes the Zwift Tri Academy the

Meet the Mentors

Sarah True

An American triathlete whose early career focused on the ITU Series, Sarah represented the US at the 2012 London Olympics—finishing 4th—and again at Rio in 2016. In 2018, Sarah tested herself with longer distances, racking up wins at IM 70.3 Augusta and Austin. Earning a spot at the Ironman World Championships in Kona, Sarah finished in a stunning fourth place on her first trip to the Big Island. After a strong performance at IM Mont-Tremblant, she’s heading back to Kona in 2019.

Tim Don

Tim is a repeat Olympian who made the leap into the Ironman world. Initially focusing on the Ironman 70.3 distance, he kicked it up a notch in 2014, winning his first full Ironman at Mallorca! He was hit by a truck in the days leading up to the 2017 Ironman World Championships, resulting in a fractured C2 vertebrae and three months in a neck brace. Beating the odds, he bounced back the next year to win IM 70.3 Costa Rica and returned to Kona, crossing the finish line at the 2018 Ironman World Championships.
